WATER TREATMENT AND TESTING - BE SCEPTICAL

Beware companies that offer "free" water testing. Many plumbing and/or filter companies will send a vial in the mail with claims that they are working with a "Water Quality Association" in order to "survey water in your area for problems." Most times, these companies cannot tell you what specifically they are testing for or why! When pressed for specifics they may say something like, "we are concerned about contaminants in the local water supply" or "depending on your results, you may qualify for additional testing to see if you need a water treatment system." Rest assured that everyone who end in a test vial will "qualify" and you will receive a sales call to install a water treatment system.
I recently contacted one of these companies to see if they could explain what they were testing for and why, since the packaging did little to explain the objective. The more I asked specific questions about the testing need, the more frustrated they became because they could not answer basic questions about testing purpose or parameters. I was eventually abruptly cut off and (in a very disturbing tone) that "if I don't want a free test, don't send it in" and "that it is not for everyone." When I suggested they were offering a test to make sales of water treatment systems (they were a plumbing company in essence), they hung up the phone. Ah, customer service at its finest.
Hurley EHS Consulting was born out of this very type of deceptive business practice. If you use my services, I can provide cheap and accurate testing based on the specific concern with your water source and delivery system. My services are very reasonable, but not free, for a reason. I am here to help clients solve real problems regarding water quality concerns and, in doing so, grow my business on that sound and simple business model. I do not sell water systems and, therefore, I am independent of any sales pressures associated with selling you a product. I will always be honest and will always answer questions regarding your water testing and treatment to the best of my ability. If I do not know the answer, I will research it and get back to you. I always show respect for you, the customer, and I will never hang up the phone.
If you see a "free water test" advertised, be very skeptical. If you do decide to proceed, research the company and don't be afraid to ask the very basic questions; "why is this free, what are you selling, what are you testing for, and how?
